Week 21 – The Toilet Bowl

I wish there was a reset button… after that initial safety the most exciting thing about that game was Bruno Mars’ sweet dance moves. Seattle really did “take it away”… several times in that epic beat down.

halftime

Our overall winner this year is… Stacie! Pretty remarkable for a newb and reminiscent of the great Ray French’s first season. Stacie is also the first female to ever win the pool… and Cassie joins her as the first duo to take home some winnings. Represent for the home girls, yo. Inglewood. Ballantine also went all in on the Hawks and climbed the polls to finish in 2nd.

Needless to say, this was a rough one for Rob, Cassie, and the Frenchman who all ended up on the wrong side of the big bet. But you’re still winners in all of our books (except the one that Stacie, Jeff, and Sampson wrote). We’re glad everyone had a great season… now life sucks for another 7 months! I’m betting on the big Huey comeback next season!!

P.S. For those that I owe money to… please shoot me an email with your address so I can ship the big winnings! Don’t get cute… I know who won and who didn’t!! Peace.

Week 20 – Sherminated

Richard Sherman vs Michael CrabtreeScores and rankings have been updated to reflect NFC/AFC winners… Deon was the only participant to get both correct! At this point… any positive kudos should be appreciated!

Just as Richard Sherman was not afraid of the Crabs… Rob has marched a top the leader board. With a tough SB matchup and a final 39 point swing potential there’s still a chance for a lot of movement in both pools. It should be another exciting finish!!

Week 19 – Week 20 Showdown

Well… for many of us there’s not much to cheer about with our inevitable losses, but it’s still anyone’s game in the top 6 of the main show and top 3ish of the tub. It should be a great end of the season and if you’ve played this far… no reason to give up now… Derrick Coleman would be disappointed.

Week 17 – Happy New Year!!!

Based on pool performance… the new year couldn’t come soon enough! The playoffs are going to be a lot of fun and money positions are all but guaranteed to move around. Cheers and hope everyone has a better start than… Schwartz, Schiano, Shanahan, Frazier, & Chudzinski!

Week 15 & 16 – Naughty & Nice

Bears v EaglesWeek 15 was pretty harsh compared to this one, thanks in part to the Lions taking the spotlight off the Cowboys and Bears as the biggest late season bust. The Bear’s D is pretty embarrassing… like my pool performance this season. Deon hasn’t been much better (actually technically worse… I know… I’m reaching), but at least we showed a little late season spark with the high score this week! Woo-hoo… yay… rah!

Doug and Sampson are still leading the charge, but with playoffs around the corner and so much volatility this season, if you’re in the top 10, don’t count yourself out of the money. Keep in mind that every playoff game is a wager game. If you’re outside the top 10… you will undoubtedly need a few Christmas miracles. However, that’s no reason to give up at this point with only 5  pick sheets left! This will be the last regular season week… so make it count and finish up strong! Doug has been pretty tough as of late, but we know Sampson will flounder soon enough.

We hope everyone has an excellent holiday and don’t forget to get your picks in on Sunday!!

Week 14 – Cold as Snow-a-tron

snow-a-tron…Maybe not quite, but winners have been tough to pick this season… making me a loser for the most part. On the other hand, Doug has been blazing hot. Wisely picking against a late season Romo, he posted a pretty remarkable score and (“briefly” – according to Trey) stepped into overall first place. Rich and the French Assassin (no, not the band) also posted a few beauties and are currently fighting for the top spot in the hot tub… along with Calvin Johnson. The Frenchman is a huge Cowboys fan and knows what his team is capable of late in the season when things really count.

Good luck this week and get your picks in on time! The Bucs could be in for a reality check after this late season surge… or maybe not… well… probably so.

Week 13 – What never goes up…

… always stays down. I was feeling pretty badly about my nose dive into the Hot Tub, but luckily Deon really cheered me up. I’m checking our historical stats now, but this feat could very well be a new record… something to take pride in and be forever memorialized! Rob mentioned that he was considering lending you his lucky quarter for purposes of making selections this week :). John L doesn’t have much room to laugh.

nut_kick

Yup… this week was a real kick in the pants. John K and Faulkner were like Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks… the rest of us looked like RGIII… battered and bewildered. Better luck this week. We hope everyone has an excellent Thanksgiving and a great day of FOOTBALL! Good luck and don’t forget to get your picks in early before all that tryptophan settles!

Week 11 – Hugs are Welcome

no love for the gronkCatch-able or not… the Gronk was mauled. Doug has already shipped the ref a small donation. I’m not going to talk about the losers this week, because I’m one of them… we stick together because that’s how we roll… Gator style.  I will say that the Hot Tub couldn’t have come at a better time as many of us have been moving in the wrong direction… kind of like the one that Luke Kuechly is facing in the picture.

If you want in the tub… just let me know when you submit your picks this week. No money required… just a fresh start in a winner take all side pool. Once I get the count, I’ll update the final payout splits as well as the first week of the hot tub ranks!! Remember that once you switch over from the main pool, there’s no going back. If you’re new to the pool and my explanations haven’t sufficed… the info on being a Tubber can be found on the Rules page. I’m heading for a dip in the tub this year if that’s concerning to anyone sitting on the fence… if it’s not… it should be!

Good luck this week!

Week 10 – The Bucs are no longer ‘finless’

QuinoaTvAdI’m still sulking, but it’s kinda like those new Bud light commercials… me picking against the Bucs is like grilling up some tasty pre-game Quinoa burgers for a pre-victory celebration.

Many of us got dealt a pretty dirty hand, while the true Buc faithful reaped big rewards. Lee had another huge week… and Lori mustered up as many points as the Dolphins. But these are the wager games we love… it makes my decision pretty easy next week. Speaking of which…

For those of you that are new to the pool, week 12 will start the Hot Tub. If you’ve sucked so far, all is not lost… when you submit week 12 picks you have the option to hit the reset button and get into a winner take all side pool. It doesn’t cost anything… just a bit of pride. If you want to take the plunge, just put somewhere in your email a witty comment about joining the Tub nation. Good luck this week… Miami may try to put a couple cheerleaders on their offensive line at this point.

Week 8 – Oh My Darling Clemen-time

clemensClemens appeared to be day dreaming about his off-season job at IKEA where he’s able to guide customers on what a quality bench should feel like. I have no qualms against IKEA or their employees. It’s a fine establishment that offers good values and a $2 brunch. I purchased a bookcase a few years ago and have been very pleased. However, not every IKEA product is created equally and the Rams should have read that half star review on Clemens. Ok… so he probably didn’t work at IKEA but I credit the pic and concept to another funny blog.

Faulkner has posted back to back weeks as the high scorer… I’d bet on a third week over the Bucs scoring a touchdown anytime soon. Nice work! On the flip side, the Dirt Dog is getting a few more practice sessions in before plunging into the hot tub in a few weeks. We’ve got your strategy down after all these years!

Hope we all get some treats this week… good luck and get your picks in tomorrow!
